Happy APAHM 2016! (Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, for those that don’t know.) BuzzFeed made an awesome video of young, Asian-Americans learning to play Mahjong.
This video brought me back to my childhood. Not that I learned how to play Mahjong as a kid, or really understand it today. However, I remember sitting behind the computer and watching my dad play Mahjong on our Windows 98 computer for hours on end. For the longest time I thought it was just a computer game.
Flash forward to today, and I often go over to a friend’s house and seeing his parents and their friends play Mahjong. It really is such a casual, and social game. May is one of my favorite months of the year, because I really do love learning how different Asian countries’ history as well as my own. I’m also so glad to see such a huge online powerhouse such as BuzzFeed celebrating APAHM too!
